Digitizing is only half the job. Prints, envelopes, and album pages still need a place that will not yellow them or crush the corners. This roundup is the after-the-scan storage kit: two Lineco archival boxes in different size classes, plus Print File binder pages for 4×6 prints.
It is not a clone of our older organize-old-photos post. Different ASINs. No prices here — check the live Amazon listing the day you buy.
Quick kit
- 4×6 starter box with envelopes — black Lineco box that ships with 12 envelopes for sorted prints.
- 5×7 short-lid box — deeper Lineco archival box when the stack is larger prints or thicker stacks.
- Print File 46-4P album pages — polypropylene binder pages for four 4×6 prints each (pages, not FoldFlap sleeves).
Why boxes before binders (sometimes)
Shoeboxes and grocery bags fail in the same ways: acid paper, humidity, and stacking weight. Acid-free photo boxes with a lid give you a labeled “done” pile after you scan. Binder pages are for the subset you want to flip through on a shelf. Most homes need both: a closed box for bulk, pages for the favorites album.
Lineco 4×6 photo storage box (black, with envelopes)
Live listing title: Lineco Photo Storage Box, with 12 4″x6″ Envelopes, Black. 5.5×7.5×10.75 In.
is the starter unit for standard drugstore and lab prints. The included envelopes let you group by year, trip, or family member before the box fills. Exterior size on the listing is about 5.5×7.5×10.75 inches — confirm fit if you already own a shelf of other Lineco sizes.
Use this when most of the pile is 4×6 and you want envelopes in the same buy. This ASIN is the black envelope kit, not the tan Lineco box used elsewhere on the site.
Lineco 5×7×12 archival box (short-lid)
Live listing title: Lineco Archival Photo Storage Box, with Removable Lid, 5″x7″x12″, Black.
is a different size class. Removable lid, archival board, sized for 5×7 prints (and thicker stacks that will not sit happily in a shallow 4×6 envelope box). Buy it when the “miscellaneous large prints” pile is the problem, or when you want a second labeled box so 4×6 and 5×7 never share the same crush.
Do not treat this as a drop-in twin of the 4×6 envelope box. Measure the prints you still have after scanning; size mismatch is how corners get bent.
Print File 46-4P — album pages, not sleeves
Live listing title: Print File 46-4P 8 Mil Polypropylene Photo Album Page for 4 Prints, 4×6 in, 25 Pieces.
are binder pages: four 4×6 pockets per page, 8 mil polypropylene, sold as a 25-piece pack. They go in a standard album or binder so people can browse without digging in a box.
Label them correctly: these are album/binder pages. They are not FoldFlap products and not negative sleeves. If your goal is hanging film strips or a FoldFlap-style workflow, this is the wrong SKU — stop and pick a film-page product instead of forcing this ASIN.
Stock on this pack can run low; re-check Amazon before you publish or reorder.
How to stage the workbench
- Scan first, store second. Boxes are for prints you are keeping; do not bury unscanned stacks under new cardboard.
- Sort by size before you buy. 4×6 → envelope box. 5×7 (or mixed oversized) → short-lid 5×7 box. Favorites for the coffee table → Print File pages.
- Label the lid, not only the end. Future-you will stack these.
- Keep silica and attics out of it. Archival board still hates damp garages.
What this post is not
Not a FastFoto / flatbed scanner guide. Not a Gaylord or tan Lineco remake of the older organize post. Not FoldFlap. Three after-scan supplies, three ASINs, sizes kept honest.
